Chichibugahama in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, is a 1km-long beach that attracts many tourists every summer. It has gained popularity on social media for the mirror-like effect that can be captured during low tide at sunset, similar to Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni.

Unique Chichibogahama Beach


This location becomes an ordinary sandy beach unless specific conditions are met, including low tide, dusk, clear weather, and no wind. Therefore, those traveling from far away are recommended to check the weather and wind conditions thoroughly before visiting. Even for locals, it can be challenging to capture the ideal photo without holidays or specific weather conditions. However, it’s worth visiting on days of dusk or low tide, as staff from the tourism association will teach you how to take photos, and there are many stylish dining establishments in the area.

5.Map Information

Mitoyo City is located in the western part of Kagawa Prefecture on Shikoku Island, and it is the third most populous city in the prefecture, following Takamatsu City and Marugame City.
